HowTo:Enable Duplex Printing
One of the nifty (and environmentally friendly) features of Vis-lab's HP LaserJet 4200 is DuplexPrinting. DuplexPrinting allows users to print on both sides of the page, thus saving paper and making for a considerably smaller proceeding or reference.
On some machines in the lab, DuplexPrinting is not enabled. Thankfully, its a fairly easy procedure.
As a sidenote, this HowTo has been tested only on envision.eng.uci.edu and may not work on all computers.
Under Windows XP, go to Start->Printers and Faxes. Right-click on the printer "HP LaserJet 4200 PCL 6" and go to Properties. Click on the "Device Settings" tab and install the Duplex Unit under "Installable Options".
Now, feel free to test out DuplexPrinting with your favorite paper or proceeding.
Most print dialogs will allow you to set properties for the printer that you have selected. The "Layout" tab should allow you to set "Print on Both Sides." For something oriented like a letter (long side vertical) that you want to put in a 3-ring binder, you probably want the "Flip on long edge" option.
