Using a Leica Scan Station 2 3D laser scanner, accurate to 4 mm at 100 m, we spent 2 weeks in Italy surveying the interior of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence Italy. The database contains over 500 million points with color and intensity information. Substantial high resolution photography was also performed. Processing of this data is underway to remove unwanted objects from the scan to create a full 3D model of the Hall of the 500 of the Palazzo Vecchio.
The goal of this project is to interactively visualize massive point clouds and combining them with high resolution photography by using the acquired raw data.
